Brooke Garrett, Kindergarten Teacher
bgarrett@odysseycharter.net
I graduated from USU with a dual major in Early
Childhood and Elementary Education with an emphasis in science and an
endorsement in math. I taught kindergarten for 3 years right out of college
and enjoyed every minute of it. However, I decided to stay home and be with
my 3 children (ages 8, 5, and 2; two boys and a girl, respectively) for a
few years. I was hired on at Odyssey in 2005 when I decided to get back into
teaching. I loved it and am excited to be returning again this year, my
third year here at Odyssey! I recently remarried over the summer - yeah! I
have now increased the size of my family by two. I have a wonderful husband,
Stephen, and a new stepson (age 6). Three out of four of our kids will be
attending Odyssey and I have the privilege of teaching two of them, but
we'll see how well that goes.
I love teaching and learning about all subjects (but I tend to favor
science). I love traveling and have been to many places. My favorite place
to go is deep into any red rock canyon in south central Utah. Consequently,
my favorite thing to do is backpacking! When I can't fit in a backpack trip,
then I head up to the local canyons to enjoy the outdoors!
I have a passion for reading. My favorite book always happens to be the one
that I am currently reading. I am now reading "Anna Karenina" by Leo Tolstoy
and enjoying it immensely. As far as children's books, they are also my
passion. I collect them like some of my students might collect rocks or
insects. It would be hard for me to choose a favorite, but one that is
nostalgic for me is "The Monster at the End of This Book."
My favorite treat, hands down, is ice cream. I love milkshakes of any kind.
In my spare time, which is rare, I love reading, exercising, going for walks
and hikes with my family, playing board games, bowling, etc. I like to do
just about anything! |
