This will be my fourth year at Odyssey. I am a retired
teacher from California and moved to Saratoga Springs three years ago to be near my
daughter, son-in-law and grandsons. My otheradult
children still live in Southern California.
I graduated from
St. Mary's College at Notre Dame, Indiana, with a degree in Biology. I taught for
seven years in Nevada and California before marrying and having five
children in six and one half years. While being a stay-at-home mom, I did some
substitute teaching and was an aide in a special day class.
Later, I returned to teaching full - time. I taught
first grade for 15 years at Stoddard School directly across the stree from Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
It was there that I discovered that teaching
reading to English Language Learners was my greatest passion. This inspired me to get my
Master's degree in Teaching Strategies.
Four years ago I
traveled to Russia for one month to join my daughter who was in the Peace
Corps teaching English there. My hobby is talking on the phone to friends and having lunch with them.
I am a people person and am
excited to be working with the children, parents, and staff here at Odyssey
Charter School.
