Job Descriptions

Teachers

Teachers will provide instruction and direction to students in accordance with Odyssey Charter School's approved curriculum, meet educational requirements of the State of Utah, interface with parents and volunteers, supervise all instructors, aides or volunteers assigned to their respective classrooms and be responsible for accomplishing the mission of OCS.

Teacher qualifications and responsibilities include the following:

  • Licensed or certified by the State of Utah
  • Complete job duties with minimal supervision
  • Have experience with direct teaching methods
  • Have experience with other innovative and creative teaching methods
  • Teach OCS approved curriculum
  • Meet educational requirements of the State of Utah
  • Demonstrate commitment to the OCS mission, philosophy and goals
  • Teachers must be in good physical condition, able to maintain an active, highly mobile level of interaction for a continuous eight-hour period of time with or without accommodations

Instructor

Instructors will report directly to their supervising classroom teacher. Instructors will provide instruction and direction to students in accordance with Odyssey Charter School's approved curriculum, assist supervising teacher in coordinating all activities in relation to student learning, supervise and assist volunteers assigned to their respective classrooms and be responsible for accomplishing the mission of OCS.

All classroom instructors must have a strong desire to work with an innovative educational program. They must possess the ability to work well with others.

Instructor qualifications and responsibilities include the following:

  • Complete job duties with minimal supervision
  • Have elementary school experience as an employee or volunteer
  • Assist in teaching OCS approved curriculum
  • Demonstrate commitment to the OCS mission, philosophy and goals
  • Instructors must be in good physical condition, able to maintain an active, highly mobile level of interaction for a continuous eight-hour period of time with or without accommodations

These instructors need to have at least an Associate or higher and/or two years experience working with children. 

Support Staff

Odyssey Charter School will employ personnel to work under the supervision of the Director to assist in any administrative or supervisory duties. These positions may include: academic director, curriculum consultant, office administrator, office manager, bookkeeper, custodian or coach. Staff must possess or be willing to achieve multi-functional skills. Charter schools must maximize resources and will utilize staff in multiple areas if needed.
