Christy Fender has always been intrigued by exploration and, as a child, used to wander the alfalfa fields of her Salt Lake County neighborhood in search of something "exciting" - which usually turned up the occasional pheasant nest, garter snake, or snail filled irrigation ditch.
Although the terrain has changed, Christy still loves an adventure and realized that teaching is the perfect profession in which to cultivate her continued love for learning, and to share this excitement and enthusiasm with others. So - with the wonderful support of her husband and children - back to college she went to earn her teaching license and a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree from Westminster College of Salt Lake City. Christy's three children often ask her, "Mom, what's your favorite, (fill in the blank)?" To which she always replies, "I don't have one." In a world full of so many fantastic possibilities, how could anything be narrowed down to just one? However, there are a few favorite top contenders: family, chips and salsa, wandering in England, a quilt and a good book, cookies, new socks, nature/animals, soup on a rainy day, ordering garden seeds in January, garlic, good friends, history, and spending her days teaching. Christy is thrilled to be a part of the Odyssey team. |
