I am a retired teacher from CA and moved to Saratoga Springs in 2005 to be near my four young grandsons. Three of my five adult children still live in CA. The other two live here in Utah. I graduated from St. Mary’s College at Notre Dame, IN with a degree in Biology. I also have my Master’s Degree in Teaching Strategies. For seven years I taught grades 4 – 8 until after my marriage and the arrival of my first born, when I immediately became a stay-at-home mom. Thus began my real educational journey!! My five children have been my greatest teachers. Later, when I returned to the classroom, I taught first grade for 15 years in Anaheim, CA, where 85% of the children w ere English Learners. During these years I began to realize that teaching reading is my greatest joy and challenge. There is no greater thrill than to hear a child squeal in sheer amazement, “I can read!” Being a reading support teacher four hours a day here at Odyssey Charter School helps me continue doing what I love doing best. I’m definitely a people person and am delighted to return to Odyssey for my seventh year working with the children, parents, and staff. |
