My name is Elise Page and I love working at Odyssey Charter School! I love teaching and working with children. I grew up in the Bay Area. My parents are professional jazz musicians. I am the oldest of four kids. From the time I was little I remember playing ‘’teacher” educating my siblings or neighborhood friends of any interesting fact I could find. I remember setting up chairs and a whiteboard as I drew a diagram of the black widow spider to warn all kids that if they saw the red hourglass on the belly of a black shiny spider to STAY CLEAR!!! OH, the sweet memories of childhood. I was blessed with a wonderful childhood and it is so important to me that kids can be kids. I am so happy to have a role in life that allows me to help enrich the lives of children!
I received my Associates in Heath and Education from BYU-Idaho. I then went on a Spanish speaking mission to Lima, Peru where I fell in love with their people and culture. After my return to the states, I attended BYU where I found the man of my dreams… oh, and graduated… in Mild/ Moderate Special Education. I taught 3rd grade for two years, one of those years implementing ECRI in my teaching at the Reid School in Salt Lake City. Last year I was asked to work as the Special Education Coordinator here at Odyssey and it has been a wonderful experience ever since!
I love people! I love meeting new faces and seeing people happy. I love to travel and learn of different cultures! I have visited many states of our beautiful country as well as have visited other countries like Peru, England, Spain, Scotland, Puerto Rico, Haiti, Bahamas, the Virgin Islands and oh!... You can forget the honeymoon to Canada!
I love the summer full of warmth and fun! I love animals. I have two guinea pigs… Franklin and Bean. I love music, singing and playing the guitar are my favorite. I love food! I love to cook and I love to eat triple chocolate brownies or chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven with a glass of milk while watching a Disney movie (Enchanted and Tangled are my new favorites!). Most of all, I love spending time with my family and friends! I have an incredible husband who shares with me all of the wonderful joys life brings. He can also make the most incredible pizza you could ever imagine! Oh, and Mr. Schellhous used to babysit him when he was a baby in Alabama! How is that for a small world?!
As you can see, I am truly a big kid at heart and being so makes Odyssey the best place to work. The students here bring so much light into this world and I love being around them. The staff here are all good friends of mine and help me get through the long, cold winters with their warm smiles and support. I hope I can help lift our students here at Odyssey and teach them to know that they are incredible and are capable of doing incredible things. I am so happy to be here!
