I am Marianne Daniels, the Latin teacher at Odyssey. I graduated from BYU with a BA in Latin teaching and minor in History teaching. I have taught at Odyssey since 2006.
I am an "Air Force brat" and have lived in Colorado (twice), the Philippine Islands, Maryland, California, Texas, and Georgia. I have five brothers and one sister. When I was in sixth grade, I read Edith Hamilton's Mythology and have been addicted to classical history and language ever since. My love of grammar (really!) helped me discover and enjoy Latin. I have always had an interest in teaching and I love to break down words to understand what makes language. I love to travel, particularly Savannah, Georgia and Italy (of course). Museums are my favorite places in the world. But my absolute favorite thing to do is read a really good book, while eating chocolate with almonds. My favorite books are Jane Eyre, Dracula, and Mansfield Park (you can never go wrong with a Jane Austen novel!) I look forward to teaching this year and to convey some of the love of Latin that I have to my students, along with a healthy dose of Roman culture and mythology. |
