Nikki Carpenter, Reading Specialist

ncarpenter@odysseycharter.net

My name is Nikki Carpenter and I have been at Odyssey for four years now. I have worked in several capacities since I began here. I am excited to be one part of the Reading Specialist team, along with Cindy Gaughen. I love teaching reading so this year should be a lot of fun!
This summer I celebrated my 10th anniversary with my husband, Todd. We currently live in Saratoga Springs with our two girls (ages 2 and 4), and two boys (ages 6 and 9). My boys attend Odyssey this year, and my four-year-old can't wait until she can come with us next year! I love pasta, ice cream, and anything with toffee in it. I enjoy photography and would love to learn more in that field someday.
I grew up right here in American Fork and love this area. I have always loved school and learning. When I was in elementary school my favorite subjects were math, reading, and recess (of course!). I enjoy music and singing, so I usually found my way to the school choirs.
After graduating from American Fork High School, I attended Snow College where I earned my Associates Degree. I then went to Utah State University where I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and a Minor in Music. I chose to study education because I love children. I love to watch as they acquire skills and learn things they never thought they could. I look forward to working with a new group of students this year, and can't wait to see how much we can learn together.
