After School Programs

Odyssey is offering some fantastic After-school programs this year.These programs are an enhancement to Odyssey's academic program.After-school programs are for students 1st thru 6th grade.
                                            After-school program policy:
Students who register for an after-school program may only be permitted on campus during after-school hours. Siblings & carpool "buddies" may not be allowed on the premises.  Please, make the necessary arranements for your student and carpool.

Fencing Club.
Utah Swords Academy is returning with a fabulous year round program! 
How does the fencing program benefit your student? 
Fencing increases health, wellness and fitness by keeping kids physically active. 
Fencing trains balance, coordination, agility, promotes discipline & good sportsmanship,
Fencing develops mental skills by learning action/reaction, basic strategy & the ability to analyze tactical situations.
 
Classes start Tuesday’s and Thursdays, 2:40-3:40pm, beginning Sept 4th
    Note: Fencing is a year long program designed to train students in this sport.
Cost: $75 per month (includes equipment rental)
    Checks made payable to Utah Swords Academy directly to the instructor at the beginning of each month
 
Students will learn the basics of fencing and improve upon existing skills.
Beginner and novice programs are offered.
Students may also compete in local tournaments.
Students encouraged to wear gym-type/loose fitting clothing & athletic shoes.

Mad Science.
This is a fun science program.
This session is called "Funky Phsyics."
Day/Time: Tuesdays, 2:40-3:40pm
Dates: 8 week program, Sept. 25-Nov.13th
Cost: $78; Register online early to receive a discount

Chess Club.
Chess is for everybody.  Come & learn how to play & make better Chess moves.
Why sign-up for Chess?
Chess teaches how to analyze, understand tactics & strategies;
improves critical thinking skills & develops a keener logical mind,
sharpens problem solving skills, improves reading & math, etc.
Many students have completed in Chess tournaments to earn awards too.

Classes start on Wednesday's beginning September 12-Dec 12th.
Note: This program runs years round and will begin again mid-January thru May.
Cost: $45 for this 12 week session.  Discounts to siblings (see registration form)
Beginner & Novice classes offered.

Art Club.
Art is such a unique and wonderful way to express ones creativity.
Art club goes beyond what is taught at school.
Students learn self expression through creativity and fun.

Dates: 8 week program, Sept. 26-Nov 14th.
   Note: 2 additional new sessions will be offered during Winter/Spring

Bricks-4-Kidz.
Jr. Robotics class
Does your student enjoy working with legos, designing, building & creating through legos?
Bricks-4-Kidz offers fun, educational classes and free-play building sessions.
Sttudents will experience hands-on engineering fundamentals as they build motorized models using LEGO(R) bricks.
Bricks 4 Kidz provides curriculum that introduces children to engineering, architecture and scientific principles.
Students' imagination and creativity will soar during a Jr. robotics.

Jr. Robotics is available for grades 1st-3rd only.
Day/Time: Thursdays, 2:40-3:40pm
Dates: 1st session, Sept. 20-Nov 1 (No class on Oct. 8th for fall break)

WeDORobotics class
WeDo Robotics is offered for grades 4th-6th only.
Using this software, students will be able to program the robots they craft out of Lego„¥ bricks.
WeDo bridges the physical world, represented by Lego models, and the virtual world of computers and programming software,
providing a hands-on, minds-on learning experience that actively involves young students in their own learning process.
WeDo is generally aimed at promoting children's creative thinking, teamwork & problem-solving skills.

Day.Time: Thursday, 2:40-3:40pm.
Dates: 1st session, Nov. 8-Dec. 13th

Please, be sure that your student is picked up from their after-school program promptly.  Students cannot be left unattended once after-school programs have been dismissed.  It is each parents responsibility to ensure that their student is picked up on time.
