Hi! My name is Becky Smith. This is my ninth year as an instructor at Odyssey, and I am excited to work with the children. I have spent the majority of my time at Odyssey working with the fifth grade students. I love the fifth grade. This is such an important age as these children are growing up and starting to learn more about who they are and what they want to be. Education has always been important to me. I have a bachelor of Science degree from BYU. I love to study anything I can get my hands on. I volunteer at the State Science Fair every year. School should be a place that children are excited to come to and feel like it is worth their time.  I want them to feel safe, appreciated, and heard. I try to make sure children know that I recognize the hard work they put in. I will do my best to support the children and teachers in their educational journey. I love to read and to learn. I especially love the sciences. I’ve volunteered or worked with elementary school children for over 20 years.When I am not at Odyssey, I coach a high-school level FTC robotics team. In 2023, and again in 2024, our team won the Utah State championship and competed in the World Championships-ending in 15th place and 13th place, respectively, out of about 200 teams. In addition to coaching robotics, I love to spend time with my family, and walk and hike in the mountains.  I also love to crochet, do artwork and read.
