My name is Brooke Austin.  I am the Director of Odyssey Charter School.  I have been at Odyssey since 2005, where I began as a kindergarten teacher.  I earned a dual bachelor's degree from Utah State University in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.   I earned a master's degree in Educational Leadership from Western Governors University.  I hold endorsements in Math and Instructional Coaching. I believe that a thriving school culture is built on high expectations, strong relationships, and shared purpose. At Odyssey, we are committed to academic excellence—but just as importantly, we are dedicated to developing respectful, responsible, and kind individuals. My goal is to create an environment where students feel safe, valued, and challenged; where staff are supported and empowered; and where families are true partners in the journey. Together, we are building a community where character counts, learning is joyful, and every child is known.

I taught in a traditional public school for three years, then started at Odyssey.   I became the Assistant Director in 2011 and the Director in 2023. When I’m not leading a school, you’ll probably find me getting lost on purpose—backpacking through the wilderness, hiking dusty trails, or exploring somewhere new (with or without a map… or company). I also love reading, writing, and cooking new things.  I love Cheez-Its and have to hide the box once it's opened, or I will devour it all in a very short time, and I love gourmet food as much as a hamburger from a fast-food joint.
