My name is Rachel Smith, and I teach kindergarten at Odyssey Charter School. I hold a B.S. in Early Childhood Education, an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology, and a Level 2 Utah Reading Endorsement. With over 20 years in education — primarily in kindergarten and first grade, as well as curriculum direction — designing and teaching curriculum remains my greatest passion.

My teaching philosophy is that true learning is powered by curiosity, play, and purpose. For children, play is not a break from learning — it is learning. When we empower them with knowledge, we give them the tools to grow, explore, and succeed. With each success, motivation deepens, creating a cycle of joyful, self-driven discovery.
