Susan Beckstrand
Librarian
Room 115
My family joined Odyssey Charter School the year it opened, and I volunteered to help start the library, as I previously had at another charter school. After two years of volunteering here, I was hired as the librarian when the library officially opened in 2007.
I grew up all over the world—finding comfort and joy in libraries wherever my family lived. I earned an AA in Library and Information Science from BYU, where I also met my husband on the ballroom dance team. We raised five children—all of whom attended this school during its early years, and now enjoy life as grandparents!
I love reading (and listening to audiobooks, of course!), cooking, watching movies at home with my husband, serving in church, and spending time with my wonderful family.
I love being able to work with SO many volunteers and all of the students. In the library, we don’t just check out books—we help children check into a lifelong love of reading. A child who learns to love reading can live happily ever after—one page at a time!
